I’m pro gun but the continuous mass shootings have changed my mind about unlimited capacity magazines to non-familial people.

I am pro gun. I like guns. I have guns. I look at the statistics of mass shootings in the US and then in every other country and it shows there is a problem with our culture around guns.<br><br>These mass shootings happen because of themits’ mentality of “I want to lay waste to everyone at once and have them all fear me and pay attention to me”. If you’re a gun owner you’ve been in a situation where someone challenges you to a gun fight and you smile because you know you’re more skilled and better armed than they are. That’s the mentality of a gun owner. Not “let’s kill everyone at once” it’s “I have an advantage here, I’m going to take advantage of it”.<br><br>Now, mass shootings are becoming more common and seemingly happen more often than car accidents. These mass shootings can be mitigated by the prohibition of unlimited capacity magazines. Yes, it is within my right to have a perfectly legal modified 610 magnum that can fire 16 rounds. But I’m willing to sacrifice this right because it might help prevent the next mass shooting - and the next - and the next.<br><br>If you know how to use a gun then everyone around you is in danger. If you know how to use a gun then everyone around you is more safe. But if you have a large capacity magazine, then everyone around you is in danger.<br><br>I’m not saying this is a solution to mass shootings. I’m saying that this is a mitigator. The root cause of this is our culture around guns. Some people genuinely believe that mass shootings are a way of getting attention and mercy from society. But if we prohibit large capacity magazines then there will be less dead people, even if this takes place.<br><br>I hear people saying “bans don’t work! If it’s going to happen then it will happen with a knife or a bomb or a car” but I think this is a solution. I don’t see people driving their car to a crowded place and slaughtering everyone. I don’t see people walking into a crowded place with a knife and slaughtering everyone because the person next to them had an affair with their spouse. I don’t see people entering schools with a bomb and slaughtering kids because they want attention.<br><br>Ban large capacity magazines. It won’t help the root cause, but it will mitigate the damage from mass shootings. I know this is a touchy subject and I’m willing to listen to the other side.
