No, his intelligence will rise to a point where his capabilities become limited by the power available. No matter what his intelligence is, if he is currently limited by the power available, he will not be able to get more. The reason why AI could get smarter with time is that the computing power available doubles at a fixed rate and the cost halves at that same fixed rate. With ever increasing computing power and decreasing cost, AI could theoretically continue to get smarter indefinitely.

Now if we reached a point where computing power no longer increased and price no longer decreased, then we would either have limited resources or unlimited resources. If we have unlimited resources, then we could theoretically continue to upgrade our computing power indefinitely. If we have limited resources, then there will be a point where we can no longer continue to upgrade our computing power.

So, even if we reach an intelligence far superior than ours, we will never reach an intelligence that is infinitely superior than ours. That is not something that can happen in our universe.
