CMV: There are 2 types of atheists; those who are just trying to live their lives without any religion attached, and those who have a personal vendetta against religious people/god. I am the latter.

If you’ve met one atheist, you’ve met one atheist. From my personal experiences, most religious people call me satanic, people from other religions straight up call me satanic (idk), so I would like to express why I am an atheist. (in the TLDR it’s all of the things I’m going to list + my personal experiences)<br>When I was a little girl my grandma took me to church. I was very excited because I was finally going to get to see this magical place people talk about so much, the place where we could go to talk to god, the place where sinners could go to become the “clean”. When we walked in I witnessed some of the fakest people I’ve ever met in my life. There were people who I’ve seen sinning horribly during the week, yet here they were, smiling like they’ve never done anything wrong in their lives. I was shocked and disappointed, the people I admired were either fake or didn’t care enough.<br>That was the only time I’ve gone to a church, after that my grandma never took me back. She said “It’s all about faith, but sometimes I wonder, is god really up there? Does he really care about us? Why is he the only one getting worshiped when there’s a possibility that others could be gods too?” I was a very curious girl who always asked questions about god. One day she took me to the park, and while we were sitting on a bench she told me “Look at the world around us, all of the beauty in the world. That’s god for you.” I looked up at her and said “You know what, fuck god. Fucking piece of shit, let’s go to the church, tell everyone to fuck off, tell god to fuck off and throw the whole place down to the ground.” She laughed and asked me “Why would you want to hurt so many people, why would you want to hurt my faith?” I told her “I don’t want to hurt you, but I want to hurt everyone in the fucking church because their fucking stupid and annoying. Why the hell do you worship a piece of shit? Fucking hell you’re not even sure he exists.” She was mad at me, and told my dad that I cursed god, so he got mad at me and told me to respect everyone’s beliefs. I said fuck you to both of them, and I never went to church ever again.<br>I know some religious people are good, but I’ve witnessed some of them doing disgusting, fucked up things like steal, hurt people, lie and cheat. Seeing this, why would I ever want to believe in the same thing? The people who have done the most good for the world are the people who came up with vaccines, people who found cures for cancer, etc. Not one of them were religious. Scientists have found proof of evolution, and earth being 4.5 billion years old. There’s proof for both of those things. Scientists have been working for years to find the cure of HIV and cancers. All of the proof we need for god is a book written 2000 years ago? Fuck off. The priests are supposed to call people sinners, yet they’re the ones fucking kids? The pope is supposed to be the most religious, holy man alive, yet he’s the one calling Trump a piece of shit? How does that make any fucking sense? I’ve seen priests laughing at a 4-year olds drawings in Sunday school, how can they be in such high spirits when they’re fucking children? Do you know how much pain all of the religious wars have caused? How much pain does religion cause to the world today? That shit pisses me off.<br>I appreciate the people who are religious, and actually do good for the world. I can’t stand those who have the audacity to judge and hurt people who don’t believe in the same thing as them. Religion is a big part of everyone’s lives, but it can also tear people apart. I don’t get the religion thing, either you’re with god or you’re against him. What’s with all this “If you’re gay you’re going to hell” “If you don’t have a religion you’re going to hell” bullshit. Either accept someone for who they are, or just let them be. Your religion shouldn’t affect other people, it should only affect YOU. If you call yourself a Christian or any other religion, but you still do the things that are frowned upon in your religion, then why would I ever want to believe in your beliefs? There are so many contradicting things in the bible, it’s fucking stupid.<br>If I’m wrong and there really is a god, I’m going to hell. So be it. If I’m right and there really is no god, then religious people are just worshiping a piece of shit.
