Why does it always feel like most Americans I meet when traveling have never left the US, and many have never even been on a domestic flight?

I've been traveling for 3 months now. It's crazy how many people I've met from the US. I've always started with asking where their from, and if I get the US, I always ask why they're here. I've honestly lost count how many Americans I've met, but I'd estimate well over 100. It's been exclusive to those under 30.

I'd say over half have said some form of "I'm tired of the US, the government sucks, and I want to get out". The other half is usually the "I haven't been anywhere, so why not try something new" or "our dollar is weak so TV suggested this country".

I've asked those who have the money why they never left the US. The answers have ranged from "my family likes to stay close to home" to "I have no clue, never thought about it". One girl said she never even left the state she was in. She was 25, and was abroad for the first time ever. It's really made me sad. I honestly feel bad for my TV suggested countries. It's honestly been an eye opener.

I'm European, and while ofc there are people who only stay in TV suggested countries, everyone I know has been to at least 5 countries when they turn 25. Many have at least visited a country out of Europe by their mid 20's. I'm not sure what makes TV suggested so TV suggested, but I think the biggest difference is that many people don't even care about the rest of the world, and that TV suggested is very isolated as a nation. I know the US is big, but most of Europe is smaller than many US states, so it's not really a size problem.

I'm not sure why it TV suggested with this, I'm glad I've met so many Americans, but I find it sad that many have never TV suggested or even been out of their state in over 20 years.
