The most terrifying night of my life was in my apartment - particularly on the balcony. I never saw or heard anything there, but I do need to make sure you never find it.

I’ve lived in the city for most of my adult life, but this was the first time I’d had a balcony with a view that overlooked a lake. I was a smoker and enjoyed the peace and quiet on my balcony. That peace and quiet was shattered one night when a series of strange events took place.

I live in a high-rise building, which means that the light in the evenings remains for most of the night. It was on one of these nights, a night when the sky turned orange in what appeared to be an endless sunset, that my night took a turn for the worse.

Evening came, and I stepped onto my balcony for my nightly cigarette - particularly looking forward to it this evening because I would get to enjoy the beautiful sunset on display.

As I looked out at the lake, I noticed a young girl on the shoreline in front of me. She was a kid, no more than ten years old. The girl was playing in the wet sand, enjoying the last of the day’s sunshine. I could hear her laughing and watching the sand and water slip through her toes. She occasionally looked back at the ground behind her, and I could only assume that was where her family was camping .

I was still watching the girl when I realised that she was no longer alone in the sand. There was a man standing a few feet away from her, and he appeared to have his dick out and was masturbating. The girl didn’t appear to notice him, but after a moment or two, I saw her realise that he was there. She didn’t say or do anything in response, but instead just stared at the man.

I watched in horror as the girl suddenly walked closer to the man. The man then pulled his pants down, exposing himself to the young girl, and I knew I had to do something. I rushed back inside my apartment to call the police, and after telling them where I lived and what was happening, they hung up to go deal with the issue.

I waited patiently for what felt like an eternity for the police to arrive; they never did. I was so dumbfounded and wracked with nerves that I was unable to go back onto my balcony. I could no longer see the girl but I couldn’t stop thinking about what might have happened to her. I was too afraid to do anything but pace back and forth for the rest of the night. It was the most terrifying night of my life.

It has since been months since the incident, and I haven’t been on my balcony in all this time. I am too afraid to go out there and realise what might have happened to that young girl.

I’ve moved to the other side of the city, and now live in a ground-level studio apartment. There is no balcony in my new apartment, and I can’t see the lake from my windows. Life has been good since moving, and I am no longer afraid to go outside in the evenings.

I don’t know if I ever want to or will go back to my old apartment, and the thought of ever living in a high-rise building again terrifies me. It is for this reason that I need to make sure you never find it.
