Doctor says I have a ‘familial predisposition’ to an illness. Is that the same thing as ‘genetic predisposition’?

What’s with the change of terminology in the past year or so? This is the second time I’ve heard about a ‘familial predisposition’ to a condition. This suggests the doctor knows I’m not genetically predisposed, only that it’s somewhat common in my family. I thought doctors were on the side of science, not depopulation…
