Steve Jobs refused to allow doctors to operate on his cancer and decided instead to treat it with an alternative way. He took three months to have the cancer removed and likely died because of that. It's likely Steve Jobs would have lived at least a few more years if he had decided to have the cancer removed in 2003. Steve Jobs died in 2011.

He gambled his life for Apple. Apple is an electronics company that likely wouldn't have existed in the first place if Intel and Microsoft hadn't come about first. Apple is an important company to the world, but to a degree that it would be worth dying for? Like the world would never have seen the invention of the iPhone? There were already smartphones for Steve Jobs gambling his life for Apple and iPhone was just one of them. There were likely other products like MacBooks and iMacs out on the market as well.

So what technology did the world gain because of Steve Jobs gambling his life in 2003?
