How do you just casually stop an economy?

Sorry for silly question but I genuinely don't get how people just stop an economy.<br><br>In Australia we are being told it's non essential and we need to stay inside. But I can't see how people can just stop working? I just can't fathom the logistics of that.<br><br>People are telling me I should just say I have rona and take sick leave but that feels wrong.<br><br>Unemployment is pretty hard here and it just doesn't make sense that these companies will hire people back. The government is providing a new 5.5k grant for people who have been stood down but it's not a wage. I just can't see how people can afford to just switch to that. Can someone explain to me properly what the plan is? I've never seen anything like this before and I am genuinely just confused and a little concerned.<br><br>TLDR; I am just lost in the whole process.
