I am going through a job change at the same company. I am moving to a new cell in the same plant. I’ve been at my current cell for almost 2 years. One of my coworkers was asked by our GM to move cells and he is a bit hesitant. As a result, he asked me to do a training and shadowing process with him.

He wants me to come in for a couple hours before work and stay after for a couple hours to do this training. I’m hoping to use old PTO after my hire date to leave the company with 0 days left over, so I’m really not wanting to do this. I am very good at my job and have no issues and I’m pretty sure my managers would be sad to see me go.

Should I come to work super early and stay late? I’m currently getting paid $36 an hour OT. If I ask for OT compensation for this training would they be upset? It’s my understanding that there is no training for this new job.
