I saw something on the evening news that I can't explain

I was sitting on the sofa, beer in hand, flipping through the channels on the television when I landed on the evening news. The newscaster on this channel always seemed like the most professional to me. He was better dressed, better spoken, and had a more professional style of speaking. He was in the middle of a story about a politician that was caught doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing when the studio lights just... went out.<br><br>The screen went black and the newscasters voice started trembling a bit as he said "we seem to be having a technical difficulty. Bear with us. We'll be back shortly." <br><br>But the screen didn't come back on. A few moments later, a shot of the news desk appeared on the screen, but the camera was shaky and the lighting was dim. One of the studio lights was still on and a man was standing next to it, holding it up as the camera was filming. Even though I couldn't see the newscaster's face because of the poor angle of the camera, I could hear him. He was the one talking. <br><br>There was a man standing next to the newscaster. He was holding him at gunpoint. The newscaster was duct-taped to his chair and was trembling. He was trying to speak, but the man with the gun made him stop by raising his gun and pointing it directly at the newscaster's face. Then... the man with the gun started talking. <br><br>"I am Colton", he said. "I am the leader of an uprising that has been years in the making and is still far from over. Tonight... we will be pulling off multiple heists across the country on different targets and for different reasons. We are an organization of people that believe that the current form of government is contradictory to what we, as well as the founders of this country, believe in. Your government has grown tyrannical and has abused the power that you have entrusted in them. We are here to bring that to light", he turned the gun on the camera and pointed it directly at it. <br><br>"You see, the government doesn't want you to know the truth. They want to keep you in the dark, blinded to what is really going on. They only want you to hear what they want you to hear. They only want you to believe what they want you to believe. They don't let you make your own decisions. They make them for you", he cocked the gun. <br><br>"That's why we're here. That's why we're doing this. The people who are participating in the heists across the country are also the people who have been wronged by the government. They're the people who have lost loved ones at the hands of the government. They're the people who have been silenced by the government. They're the people who have been held captive by the government. They're the people who have been tortured by the government. They're the people who have been wronged by the government. Now... it's our turn", he lowered the gun and he... he shot the newscaster in the head. <br><br>I gasped as blood sprayed across the camera and the screen once again went black. When it came back on, it was just the newscaster from before, still sitting at the news desk. When he looked up, he saw the camera filming him and he started talking. <br><br>"We apologize for that... uh... technical difficulty. We seem to have been... uh... hacked. We'll try to prevent something like this from happening again in the future", he cleared his throat. <br><br>"You see, the government doesn't want you to know the truth. They want to keep you in the dark, blinded to what is really going on. They only want you to hear what they want you to hear. They only want you to believe what they want you to believe. They don't let you make your own decisions. They make them for you", he cocked a gun that was pointed at his head. <br><br>"That's why we're here. That's why we're doing this. Now... it's our turn", he lowered the gun and he... he shot himself in the head. <br><br>I don't know what the hell just happened. I'm watching another channel to see if they're talking about this. I don't know if it's real or not, but if it's not... kudos to whoever thought this up and kudos to whoever pulled it off. If it is real... well... be careful out there folks.
