There was a July 2021 paper that tried to predict the timeline of when various capabilities would be reached. Within 51% confidence, there were these predictions:

* **Post-scarcity services:** 2020-2040
* **Post-scarcity products:** 2021-2045
* **Green energy:< 2022-2043**
* **Space solar energy:** 2023-2047
* **No more wars over energy:** 2025-2047
* **General lab-grown meat:** 2025-2049
* **Superior synthetic meat:** 2026-2049**
* **Longevity escape velocity:** 2027-2050
* **General lab-grown organs:** 2027-2050
* **Quantum computing:** 2027-2057
* **Self-driving taxis:** 2028-2052
* **Nuclear fusion:** 2029-2050
* **Solar-powered satellites:** 2030-2051
* **Post-scarcity healthcare:** 2030-2054**
* **Safe AGI:** 2031-2063
* **General AGI:** 2033-2068
* **Space colonies:** 2036-2062
* **Reverse climate change:** 2037-2062
* **Humans on Mars:** 2039-2064
* **Lunar and asteroid mining:** 2040-2068
* **O'Neil colonies:** 2042-2050
* **Retire the rest of the ICMBs:** 2043-2086
* **Biosphere Engineering:** 2045-2059
* **Post-scarcity civilization:** 2047-2071

These predictions were made by analyzing the exponential growth of similar technologies. While it's hard to predict where we are on these capabilities, it's clear that these predictions were **under**-estimations, and **not** over-estimations. The O'Neil colonies, lunar and asteroid mining, and the biosphere engineering ones could all potentially pass prior to 2035.

It's clear that if all of these were achieved, we would have finally reached a utopian future where we no longer have to worry about energy, water, food, shelter, medicine, transportation, and space travel. The O'Neil colonies and lunar and asteroid mining would enable us to expand to a whole solar system without having to deal with the constraints in our cradle of Earth. We could terraform Mars to be able to live there, or make asteroids into habitats. We could have several habitats to live in, all without having to access the resources in our cradle. We could leave the Earth alone to be the nature reserve that it should be.
