What are the main arguments for and against legalizing sex work?

This is part of a larger project I am working on regarding prostitution. I am looking to create a neutral backbone and then branch out into different topics within. This is the preliminary information I have found so far for the legality section:

**Arguments for:**

* **Sex work is a victimless crime**: If consensual sex work is performed in private, between two consenting adults, there is no victim and no harm done. Therefore it should not be a crime.
* **Sex work is just another form of labor**: Sex work is a consensual exchange of sex for money or other compensation, similar to other forms of labor. This exchange should be legal, as should all forms of consensual labor.
* **Legalization would allow better regulation of sex work**: Legalization would allow sex work to be regulated by the government. This would help ensure that the sex work is safe and consensual since sex workers could report any crimes to the authorities. Additionally, legal sex work would be subject to the same health and safety standards as other professions.
* **Legalization would reduce sex work-related violence and abuse**: Legalization would help make consensual sex work safer for the workers, as it would be regulated and subject to the same protections as other professions.
* **Legalization would help regulate the sex industry**: Legalization would help keep the sex industry organized and safe. Sex workers would not have to be scared to report crimes since their profession is legal.
* **Legalization would increase tax revenue**: Legalization would allow the government to tax the income generated by sex work. This would increase government revenue and help to improve society as a whole.
* **Legalization would help reduce the stigma surrounding sex work**: Legalization would help to make consensual sex work more socially acceptable. Sex workers would not have to be ashamed of their job, as it would be legal and regulated.
* **Legalization would reduce human trafficking**: Legalization would help reduce human trafficking. Sex workers could freely report any coercion, threats, or violence to the authorities without fear of criminal repercussions.
* **Legalization would improve health outcomes for sex workers and their clients**: Legalization would allow sex work to be regulated and subject to health and safety standards. This would reduce the transmission of diseases.
* **Legalization would give consensual sex workers labor rights**: Legalization would give sex workers access to the same labor rights as other professions. This would include the right to a safe working environment, the right to organize, and the right to access legal support.

**Arguments against:**

* **Legalization of sex work is often associated with organized crime**: By legalizing sex work, organized crime groups will be able to flourish and expand their criminal activities, potentially harming the sex workers.
* **Legalization could lead to an increase in sex trafficking**: Legalization could lead to an increase in human sex trafficking, as traffickers could manipulate and coerce victims into joining the sex industry. Traffickers could also use legalization as a means to exploit victims and generate profits.
* **Sex work is inherently exploitative**: Some argue that sex work is inherently exploitative due to power dynamics, economic coercion, and the commodification of the human body. Legalization would only serve to further legitimize this exploitation.
* **Legalization could negatively impact vulnerable populations**: Legalization could disproportionately affect vulnerable populations such as women, children, and marginalized communities since they are frequently coerced or forced into the profession.
* **Legalization could harm society as a whole**: Legalization of sex work could potentially have negative societal impacts, such as normalization of the exploitation of women's bodies.
* **Sex work is often harmful to the mental and physical health of workers**: Legalization would not fix the inherent problems of sex work that lead to mental health problems, substance abuse, and long-term health consequences. The profession is often damaging to those who participate in it, regardless of legality.
* **Many people in sex work are coerced or forced**: A large percentage of individuals in sex work are coerced or forced into the profession. Legalization would not change these circumstances and it would continue to allow the exploitation of these individuals.
