Was the Reconquista the first battle in the Crusade movement that spread across Europe and the Middle East?

I have read a few articles that suggest that the Reconquista was really the first battle in the Crusade movement that spread across Europe as it inspired the Catholics to retake lands and make Christianity the dominant religion across Europe. The Reconquista is the name given by Spanish historians to the period of nearly eight centuries during which the Christian kingdoms of northern Spain extended their occupation of the Iberian Peninsula at the expense of the Moorish kingdoms.
