As you all know, we have had a plethora of anime releases this year, ranging from a variety of genres and styles. But there is one thing that has caught my eye; this damn yuri genre killed it this year with many shows to its name. They were also of very high quality from each of the major studios that produce them like TNK, JC Staff, A-1 and of course MAPPA. I have to say, when I started out in anime, I was not the biggest fan, but with each iteration that we have had, I can see how it has reached a certain level of maturity and depth that I have not seen elsewhere in anime.
For example, Lycoris is a perfect example of this maturity and depth. It had great quality for an action yuri show and gave us a story unlike any other. It had less fan service, but more action and character development. It also had very well done physics and animation.

Then there is Lelouch, which was one of this years biggest surprises and an example of great blending of genres. It blended on the surface, yuri and magic, but in actuality it was a dark and abstract show that touched on themes every anime should touch on. It had great writing, super well done characters and dialogue, and was animated like a movie.

I think Reborn is a great example of how a show can be deep and have a lot of depth and emotion inside of it. It was also really well animated, and was unique in how it blended genres. It was an adventure, and it was dramatic, and it was full of action.

The last show I want to talk about is Vinland Saga, which I thought was a great show that had great writing and characters. It was also very well animated.
