I'm a retired chiropractor. I worked with a lot of professional athletes, and I can tell you a key difference between you and them.

They are so much better than you at their sport. If they mess up, a mediocre guy will do his job a little stronger and a little better. The outcome is changed. If you mess up your job, it doesn't matter. Equivalent to an NBA player who makes a bad pass and the guy in front of you misses a layup. Or gets open for a 3 and shoots an airball. You will make a mistake, maybe even a big one, and it's nothing. Just another day. An athlete can play a perfect game and the difference is someone getting a rebound, making an inside move, making a shot, or making a defensive play. They will make a mistake and lose the game because of it. You or maybe one of your co-workers will leave his coffee and spill it all over a big folder full of papers. If you are a good transaction guy none of that matters but if you mess up the transaction, it does. We all have our own skills. You likely do things better than a pro athlete. It's just the skills are very different.
