CMV: Everybody should have a "warrior" friend in their lives.

I'm a 5'0" solo female traveler who rarely speaks in public because I stutter. This means I've had some potentially *very* bad situations, yet none of them came to pass. Why? Because of my group of "warrior" friends.<br><br>An ex once told me, "I hired you to be my bodyguard, didn't I?"<br><br>Another, who was a member of law enforcement, said, "You are who I want on my team to respond to a call."<br><br>I've got a bunch of men in my life who have my back and will do whatever it takes to keep me safe. I've got a bunch of men in my life who are willing to do the same for other women--in particular, women who are more vulnerable than I (in this case, smaller or disabled). This is the kind of "warrior" I'm talking about.<br><br>My "warrior" friends look out for me and any other women we meet. These men are quick to put themselves between me and any danger. They know I can handle myself, but they also know I'm more effective when I have a team at my back. These men are willing to put themselves in harm's way for me and for other women.<br><br>So often, it seems men get a bad rap--and understandably so. There are certainly enough of men out there who are willing to *harm* women. Even more are willing to sit by and let it happen.<br><br>But I've been lucky. I've got a long line of "warriors" in my life who will stand up for me, and for other women. These men know--in their bones--that we're just as good as they are and that they are obligated to protect us. I've been extremely lucky, and I know it. I'm sad that more women don't have this same line of "warriors" who are willing to do whatever it takes to keep them safe.<br><br>CMV: Everybody should have at least one "warrior" in their lives. I don't care if "warrior" is a man or a woman or NB or whatever. I *do* care that everybody has a line of protectors who are able and willing to put themselves in harm's way to keep them as safe and happy as possible.<br><br>Now, change my view.
