My friend "Lola" (28F) and her boyfriend "Greg" (29M) have been in a relationship for 10 years. I have been friends with them since college and have always enjoyed spending time with them. I just recently found out that Greg doesn't want to have kids. At first I was surprised because Greg comes from a big loving Italian family and he is very family orientated, but then I saw his explanation for why he doesn't want kids. He wants to make sure him and Lola have lived their lives first and have the means to provide for a child before they have one. He wants to travel first, experience new things, and get established in life before becoming a parent. It sounds totally reasonable to me, but Lola has a different thought process. I have recently discovered that Lola's main ambition in life is to become a mother. She has just always wanted to be a mother and that's it. She wants to be a stay at home mom, and just dedicate her life to raising children. That is all she wants to do. She is totally against this, and when I asked her "But what if you guys make a lot of money?" She said she would still not want to have kids if Greg is not ready, and that she is willing to break up with him if he is not willing to have any. I see why Greg wouldn't want to have kids with her after hearing that. I suggested they could get a dog first, but that didn't go over well. I don't know how Greg would even be able to convince her to have kids at this point. It also makes me question the dynamic between them because they are both so headstrong and stubborn, and I thought they were happy and made a great couple until now. I don't know if there is anything Lola can say to convince Greg to change his mind. They are planning on talking about it more in a few weeks. I would totally understand if any man wouldn't want to have kids with Lola. Is there anything she can say that would convince Greg otherwise?
