What if... Worldbuilding the Multiverse

Hello Worldbuilders,<br><br>I have a new project I'm working on, and I'd love to have your involvement! This is a shared worldbuilding project on a rather grand scale. I'll start with a brief introduction to the world I'm starting with, and then explain how all of you can participate. I want this project to be interactive! I'll be posting regular updates on the project here.<br><br>*What if... Worldbuilding the Multiverse*<br><br>In the vast multiverse, there are infinite worlds and infinite versions of each world. From our vantage point, we can see infinite possibilities, but none of them are real. What if you could touch the multiverse? What if you could see worlds form, collide, and merge in all different ways? What if you could choose which worlds became "real" and tell the story of the multiverse?<br><br>That's what we're going to do here. You all are playing the role of Valorous, the powers that touch the multiverse. You'll be in charge of creating the infinite worlds and shaping their stories and their very landscapes. The worlds can be anything from fantasy to science fiction to historical worlds to worlds of magic realism. I'll post a starting world, and then, much like in any game of telephone, I'll ask you all to make suggestions for the next iteration of the world. At the end of each iteration, I'll create a new world based on your suggestions. Then, we'll do it all again.<br><br>**I. The Planes**<br><br>To begin, we have a very simple and basic world. There are seven planes of existence: the World, the Sky, the Abyss, the Underworld, the Aetherealm, the Ether, and the Void. The Sky is above the World, the Abyss is below it. The Aetherealm and the Ether are transitional planes between the World and the other planes. The Void is the fabric of the multiverse that holds all the other planes in existance. It is infinite, and yet, it is finite.<br><br>Eventually, we'll have planes with names, landscapes, histories, and people. We'll have gods and devils, angels and demons. We'll have trees in the Sky and oceans in the Abyss. Each plane will change a little, and then change a lot, and then change some more. But for now, these are the only seven planes.<br><br>**II. Iteracting with the Valorous**<br><br>So how do you participate? Each time I post a new version of the world, I'll ask for your suggestions. Your suggestions can be anything at all. They can be short or long. If you write a story about two characters in the World who find that they can fly to the Sky, that's perfect. If you write a poem about the rivers in the Abyss, great! If you describe the treacherous paths in the Aetherealm, I'll use them. If you create a place, a history, or a people, they will be included in the world.<br><br>In return, I'll ask you to use me in your own worldbuilding. If you have a story or a novel in the works, or if you're interested in developing a new story, introduce a character from the multiverse in your work. If you have an idea for a story about a World where the Sky is made of glass, use it in your work. If you have an idea for a story about the rivers in the Abyss, use it in your work. I'd love to see how the characters and worlds in our multiverse inspire you and influence the worlds you build in your work.<br><br>**III. Conclusion**<br><br>I hope you're all as excited as I am to start this project. I've been working on the multiverse for many years now, but it's never been the same without a community to participate, collaborate, and share in the process. There are infinite possibilities in the multiverse, and all of them exist at once in your imaginations.
