The only reason people say men don’t get raped/abused is because it only happens to the mentally ill and people with trauma.

People (mostly women) always seem to talk about how only women can be victims and I don’t see how that’s a valid statement (it means people don’t believe men can get raped as much as women). Sure, there is a high percentage of women victims but violence can happen to anyone, it has nothing to do with gender.

Would you rather be a victim of sexual assault or being beaten (physically or emotionally)? There are some people who would rather be beaten than sexually assaulted and I believe that I would rather be beaten (but I also have trauma).

The only reason people say men can’t get raped/molested or emotionally abused is because it only happens to mentally ill people (with trauma).

Edit: This post took me a long time to write, (this is the 3rd draft of the post and I hope this is the last one) I’m sorry if it doesn’t make sense. I just felt like I needed to write this, I thought it would be better if I wrote it down somewhere.

Edit (again): I wrote this post because I felt like people were invalidating men who are victims of abuse. Why does it matter if a person is (mentally) ill or not, everyone can be a victim of abuse? Abuse can happen to anyone and it can happen to anyone regardless of their mental health. Does a person’s mental health status matter? Why are some people only care about a victim’s gender, who cares? I’m getting sick and tired of the fact that people only care about women who are victims of abuse and invalidate men who are also victims. It’s not like abuse is only about gender, anyone can be a victim of abuse. Anyways, I’m going to end this here and I’m not going to update this post anymore.
