A lot of the television shows using fully adult actors in a high school setting could be rewritten to be a college setting and nothing would have to change.

This recently struck me while watching Riverdale. Fictitious example: There is a character who is being admitted to the hospital against their will because of their aunt. If the character was in college, it would be absurd for an aunt to be able to admit them, because a hospital would most likely see an 18 year old as an adult who can make decisions for themselves. However, since they are "supposed" to be in high school, the show gets around this by just saying they're underage. They could change the character's age and nothing else in the plot would have to change.

If you think about other "teen" shows like Gossip Girl, Riverdale, Pretty Little Liars, etc, the plots would not be impacted at all by simply making the characters in college. It would also make the plots slightly more believable and would get rid of the "but they're minors" convenience.
