Exploring the landscape of Los Angeles, CA

Everyone knows LA is a massive city. But most of what I read about this place in travel guides is just the main tourist places. It's like what else could there be besides Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Venice Beach? There must be a ton of other things to see in this place. <br><br>I have a choice between LA and San Francisco. I want to travel alone. It'll only be for three days. Which city would you pick out of these two?
