AITA for being upset that my son is being kept out of a wedding party since he’s autistic and non verbal

My son has a few play dates with a girl about his age (both are 8). The girl invited him over to play a few times and one time she invited him to go trick or treating with her.

So the girl in the story starts dating this guy who has a kid her age, and the kid is my son’s friend.

Her and her new bf have a kid together and are getting married. The kid is about 4 now.

My son’s friend (girl) is going to be the flower girl and her brother is going to be the ring bearer in their parents wedding. The girl and her brother go to a private school for kids with special needs. The girl has something called Rett syndrome and her brother has autism like my son.

Now my son goes to a regular public school, but does have an IEP for physical disabilities that make it hard for him to walk/run without falling a lot. He also has some visual impairments, but you would have to see his eyes to notice (they shake a little). He has no problems talking or anything else. My son is also in all regular classes and doesn’t even take any resource classes anymore.

So my son’s friend (the flower girl) asked him if he wanted to be in the wedding too. My son said yes, and when he told me I reached out to the mom (my son’s friend’s mom) to confirm.

She said that my son isn’t allowed to be in the wedding because since her kids and her husband’s kids have disabilities that make them “special” my son isn’t special enough to be in the wedding. She said she didn’t want any “normal” kids in the wedding party and that the ring bearer and flower girl both need to be special needs for this wedding.

I told her that my son is also a special needs kid and has special needs, and she said that it doesn’t matter and he can’t be in the wedding. She said he isn’t special enough because he can talk normal etc. She said she will allow him to come to the wedding, but he can’t be in the wedding party.
