Creepy man in a suit at a bus stop

I was on my way home from work about 5 years ago when I was at the bus stop to get home, I had gotten off the bus a few stops early to try and get some fresh air as it was a very hot day. There was a guy standing across from me and we made eye contact and he just smiled, he was about 10 feet away from me at first. I smiled back but kept looking down at the ground, not really paying much attention to him. A couple of minutes passed and I noticed the guy had slowly moved closer to me, he didn't say a word and was still smiling, I was trying not to make eye contact with him. As he moved closer to me he put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a small flower and threw it at me and said "I know you like pretty flowers." I was completely shocked by his words and just said "thank you." I was so confused by his words and he seemed like a nice man so I replied and he just chuckled and said "my name is Steve." I asked him "what's your last name" and he said "that's too personal" and I just replied "my name is Sarah" and he smiled and said "nice to meet you Sarah." We stood there in silence for about 10 minutes and he never made any further attempts at talking to me, I never asked him any questions and he never offered to walk me home or anything. We just stood there in silence for about 10 minutes and when the bus came I ran down the road and got on the bus before the door closed and didn't look back. I felt like a total creeped out loser. I never told anyone about the encounter and I didn't even tell my best friend about it until yesterday. I haven't been to the same bus stop since and now I get off the bus a couple of stops before home. <br><br>I know that I might sound stupid for being so naive and friendly to a man that I didn't know, but I just want to share my story with all of you and ask if any of you have ever had a similar encounter with a stranger.
