I went to church, and i am still reeling from the experience.

I have been with my partner for a while now, and we have been having the hardest time finding a compromise on religion in general. See, i am a practitioner of witchcraft, and he is a christian. Now, at first i found it kind of funny and interesting to learn more about his beliefs and practices and he seemed to feel the same about mine.

However now, as our relationship is getting more serious, he has started getting more and more strict about his beliefs and what he finds important. He does not want me to practice witchcraft anymore, and wants me to go to church with him. I am honestly at a loss for what to do, because my faith is very important to me as well. So i decided to speak with his youth pastor. My partner is only 22 (im 27), so we figured this guy would be more "relatable".

It did not go well. The first few questions i asked were about whether the church accepted people of other religions or not. I was met with a simple and blunt, "it is important to realize that if you dont believe in the holy trinity, you will go to hell"

The next question i asked was if there were any passages that suggested witches were bad or evil. I was met with the passage about not suffering a witch to live (i had already read this one), and another that i did not write down. However the general gist of what he had to say is that witches are very very bad.

He suggested that i read a specific passage, Matthew 7 21-23. Which really did not help his case at all. Honestly made me feel like he was invalidating the whole point of the Bible. I asked if he had read the passage, he said he had but "it does not apply".

Overall, i did not feel very welcome at all.
