Would you survive in a world where ordinary men won’t hesitate to use violence against you for the smallest reason?

The world I mean is 20th century Europe. The hypothetical scenario you’re talking about is the scenario of being a woman at any time in history, but in this case, the 1950s specifically. Imagine being a woman in the 1950s and having your brother beat you up for accidentally spilling coffee on the kitchen floor in front of mom, having your dad beat you up for coming home late from work, having your husband beat you up for serving dinner a bit late, having your son beat you by pushing you around for not letting him borrow the family car. That’s what womanhood used to be like in the 50s. Would you survive?
