What do you think will happen to the people who are severely mentally ill?

The people who have psychosis and hallucinations, schizophrenia, manic episodes and just bad depression.<br><br>Of course some can live good lives with proper treatment, and things like brain meds have allowed many to live without symptoms and I'm glad for that.<br><br>But I know people who have taken decades of treatment for things like psychosis or manic episodes and haven't really made any progress.<br><br>But I guess that's what makes AGI potential so exciting is that maybe they can create treatments that will work even if nothing else has.<br><br>If we develop AGI before the year 2100 they may be able to cure all mental illnesses before I die. But if it doesn't happen until the end of the century it may be too late for the mentally disabled.<br><br>I know this is all speculative and I don't have any answers. But what do you think will happen to them and does it matter?<br><br>I'm curious to hear thoughts from people in the singularity space.
