What's a surface level thing about your world that doesn't make sense on closer inspection?

I'll go first. All my vampires have a universal sign that they're a vampire. Like a little mark on the shoulder or something. They're not supposed to attack people, and are definitely not supposed to turn them without approval. The mark is supposed to be proof they've joined the inner circle if you will, but if you run into a vampire that doesn't have the mark, report it and they'll be dealt with.

But the mark is exclusive to the inner circle. So if you run into a rogue vampire then report it, and the authorities will deal with them. But the authorities won't actually know it's a vampire until they catch it, and they still need to know it's a bad vampire.
