In Venezuela there is a common phrase that blames the US for Cuba's situation. However, right now we Venezuelans blame the sanctions for the situation, but the truth is that the fault is ours.

In 1958 the Venezuelans were pleased with the fall of the Perezjimenismo, later in 1992 we were pleased with the coup, and in 1998 we were pleased with the arrival of Hugo Chavez. Only later did we see how we were deceived for most of his campaign promises. Even now the Venezuelans who support Maduro are happy with a government that has led us to the situation we are in today, and that is not the fault of the US, but of us Venezuelans.

Edit: I know that most of the people who are reading this post are North Americans, and maybe many of you do not know much about Venezuela, but the truth is that if you spoke Spanish, you would know that we Venezuelans have already stopped crying to the US. and we realize that the fault is ours.

Many Venezuelans put their trust in Chavez and later in Maduro, and we let him take power. And now we are crying to the US, and the US does nothing for us.

PD: for those who think that what I said is wrong, I'm sorry, you do not know anything about Venezuela, and you just speak from ignorance
