Sorry this is so long.

I have known Julia since we were kids. We went to the same elementary school, and then our mothers became friends when we were teenagers. Julia was a pretty normal kid, a little frumpy but nothing mean or scary about her. When we entered middle school, we began to drift apart. I got a lot of popular friends and Julia wasn’t someone anybody wanted to hang out with. I still ate lunch with her occasionally, but she would mostly leave me alone.

High school came and I was even more socially far away from her than ever before. I was on the cheerleading squad, with the intuitive friends and popularity that came with that. I would sometimes see Julia in the library on Friday’s when I skipped lunch to do cheer practice.

One day, when I was a senior, I was hanging out in the library. I was working on a project and was waiting for my partner to get there, and I couldn’t focus on the project in the cafeteria. I saw Julia sitting at a table on the other side of the room. She smiled and waved at me when I looked in her direction. I didn’t want to be rude so I said hi, but I got back to work on the project and almost forgot she was there. The librarian walked up to me and gave me a weird look, but said “I’m sorry sweetie but could you please go hang out with Julia on Friday’s? She waits in here for you and it creeps me out.” I rolled my eyes and told her no because that was weird.

The next week, my cheerleading coach scheduled practice a week early. I went to the library, and when I saw Julia there, I got really annoyed and decided to talk to her. I approached her and asked if she waited for me on Fridays. She seemed a little confused, and then smiled.

“I do it because it’s a special day for us.” She said.

“I don’t know Julia, it creeped out the librarian last week so it’s not cool, okay?” I asked.

“Is that what she said? She just wishes she was as pretty as you.” She said.

“I really need to get back to work so see you around okay?” I ended the conversation. She looked a bit upset but said okay. I never saw her in the library again, and I thought nothing of it.

That Friday, I was surprised to see her cheering at our game. She wasn’t on the team, but I figured she just came to watch. That was until I saw her walk up to the girls and start getting into position. I walked over to the coach and asked what the hell she was doing. The coach didn’t know and went to ask her.

“I switched schools so I could be on your team. We’re so cute in these uniforms!” Julia said.

The coach was confused and asked if she was a new student. Julia smiled and said “No, I just changed schools so Kelly and I can be friends again. She’s so cute.” The coach asked me if I knew her, and I told him what happened the week prior at the library. The coach called security and kicked Julia out.

She was actually kicked out of school and had to go back to her old one. I didn’t see her after that, but my mom told me that Julia’s mom said Julia was obsessed with me. I blew it off.

Later that year, we were at a football game and the band was playing on the field. I saw a girl with frizzy brown hair and a red band uniform. She was looking right at me and smiling. I did a double take when she started waving at me.

I told my friends I had to go to the bathroom, but what I really did was walk up to the band. I walked right up to her.

“You do know you’re not in the same school as me anymore, right?” I asked.

Julia started to cry and said “I just want to be close to you, please let me stay! I didn’t know they would care that I’m not enrolled here.” The director came over and asked what was going on, and Julia smiled at me and said “I’m so glad I got to talk to you, thanks Kelly!” Then she ran off.

I told the director what was going on and he was really confused. I told him to ask Julia’s mom.

The next game came around, and Julia was there again. I told the director and security. They went to look for her, and she was about to get caught when she saw me point to her. She ran out of the stadium, and the band director said she wasn’t a part of the band at that school.

The next week, I was walking out of my last class before lunch and I saw Julia. She had a backpack and was walking down the hallway. She saw me and smiled and waved, and then took off in a sprint. I followed her.

I lost her by the time I got to the cafeteria, but my friends said they saw a girl in a grey t shirt and jeans run out of there. I told them I was going to the library, but what I actually did was find her.

I walked down the hallways looking for her, and I finally found her. I walked up to her.

“What the hell is wrong with you Julia, why are you so obsessed with me? I don’t get it. Why do you want to be so close to me all the time?” I asked.

She smiled and said “I love you Kelly.” And kissed me.

She was kissing me. I was so shocked that I just stood there until she stopped.

“I’m not gay Julia, and even if I was, I would never date you. You are so freaking creepy! Why would I want to date someone that is so obsessed with me?” I asked her, trying not to sound too harsh.

“I will always love you.” She said.

“I didn’t know you were here, but now that you are, you need to leave.” I said. The principal walked up and heard my last words.

“Yes Julia, you need to get out of here or I will have you arrested.” He said.

Julia started crying and ran out of the school.

I didn’t see her for a year after that, and I had almost forgotten about her. I had moved on with my life and joined a club at college.

I was at the club Christmas party when I saw Julia. She was smiling at me again.

“Julia, what are you doing here?” I asked.

“I joined so that we could be together.” She said.

“I don’t want to be with you Julia, we aren’t even friends. Why would you join a college just to be in a club I’m in?” I asked.

“I would do anything to be with you.” She said.

A guy walked up next to her. He was holding her hand.

“Kelly, this is my boyfriend. He knows about my past with you and is okay with it.” She said. The guy smiled and waved at me.

I took my things and left.

I didn’t see her again for another year. I was at a cheerleading camp, and she was there too. She wasn’t with the guy anymore.

“Julia, what are you doing here? You don’t even cheer.” I asked.

“I wanted to be close to you, so I came here. Maybe we can even be on the same team again.” She said.

“Julia, I was nice last time but this is too much. You need to leave me alone. I don’t love you, and I don’t want to be friends with you. Please leave.” I said.

Julia started crying again. She ran out of the room where camp was being held.

I haven’t seen her in a few years. I changed colleges to get away from her, but that didn’t work.

I’m glad that I haven’t seen her again.

Let Julia be a lesson to all of you: when someone Show’s you they don’t care about you, believe them.

[Edit] I think it’s time I updated this post. This was one of my first posts I made on Reddit, and it didn’t get very popular and was on r/TrueOffMyChest. Julia added me on Facebook last year, and we had a normal conversation. She said she had been looking for me because she wanted to apologize for her behavior. We met up and she told me that she had been diagnosed with schizophrenia. She said she was doing better and that she had been receiving treatment. She apologized and I forgave her. I am sometimes worried that she will revert back to her old behavior, but she seems like a completely different person now.

I also want to mention that I am not gay, but I am bi, and I wouldn’t have cared about her sexual orientation if she wasn’t so aggressive and violent.
