The man who showed up at my hotel door

This happened several years ago, but still gives me a chill today. I was in the middle of traveling for work and ended up with a very late flight that ended up delayed.

I was traveling alone and was exhausted from my long day so I was grateful that they were going to give us hotel rooms. The staff told me that I would be staying in a hotel connected to the airport, and I was given a room assignment. I was very thankful for this because I was ready to crash and didn’t even bring my charger to charge my phone, it was that bad.

I took the shuttle to the hotel and when I got there, I was very exhausted. I went to my assigned room and went inside. I started looking for the charger in my bag while I waited for the front desk to let me know that my room was ready. While waiting, I heard a noise coming from the room next door and thought nothing of it, I was just glad that I could rest.

I was about to take a nap when someone started banging on the door. I thought it was my roommate who also got a room at the hotel, so I didn’t think anything of it. I got up to answer the door, but I didn’t even have a second to process who was at the door when the guy said “hello? Are you okay? I was just wondering if you need some help?” I immediately felt confused and didn’t know how to respond.

I stood there for what felt like an eternity while trying to gather my thoughts. I wanted to ask if he was a hotel employee, but I was so confused and my brain was foggy. I tried to muster the courage to open the door, but he didn’t stop banging and started yelling my name, so I knew he wasn’t the hotel employee.

I quickly grabbed the phone from my purse and called hotel reception. I was about to answer the door when the receptionist told me that no one is allowed to go to the room except the hotel employees, and to wait until they came. I waited and waited while my heart was pounding in my chest. The guy didn’t leave and I was getting more anxious by the second, but thankfully a hotel employee showed up soon after.

The employee took care of the situation, and I was assigned another room. I was scared and shaken, but thankfully the guy didn’t get into my room, so he didn’t do anything bad to me. I was shaken for days and it took me a while to get over the experience.

Let’s not meet again.
