I used to work in a homeless and it’s one of the only places I’ve seen where STIs are more of an issue than unplanned pregnancies. <br><br>Condoms are cheap enough that it makes sense to buy a bulk pack. Even if you don’t use them by the time they expire, you can donate them. <br><br>I know that this won’t help with people who are actively addicted to drugs and don’t care about themselves or others, or people who are too far gone to care about protecting themselves, but there are a lot of people in shelters who aren’t like that. I remember one couple who got back together right before they were both about to get into housing and were so happy about having a chance to start their relationship again as a couple in their own home and not on the streets. They were so happy about possibly having a baby together in the near future. I remember another resident who got pregnant to her boyfriend and was so excited to finally have a real chance at raising her child in a home. <br><br>It’s heartbreaking to see someone you care about have their whole future wrecked because they couldn’t access condoms while they were in the shelter.
