When I was 18 years old I got a job working as a receptionist in an office, which I really loved since it gave me the chance to meet people from different places and backgrounds. One day one of our bosses mentioned he needed a coworker to travel to a town called Puebla to deliver some documents and asked if I wanted to go. I said yes because I had never been to that town before. We agreed to go together.

When we got there we stayed at a small hotel and the next morning we had an appointment with the people we needed to deliver the documents to. The trip to Puebla was really long and we had to make a stop at a gas station. This was when I noticed a man who looked like he was in his mid 30s watching me. He was tall, wore a suit and his hair was short and well cut. I was nervous because of the trip but he made me feel even more uncomfortable. He kept on looking at me and smiling in a creepy way. I asked my boss if that man was with us but he wasn’t.

When we finally arrived in Puebla, we went to the building where we needed to deliver the documents. There were two men in a lobby who were waiting for us and I could feel that something was off. They didn’t say anything and just stood there looking at us. They took the documents and we went back to the hotel where we had agreed to meet again the next day. The man from the gas station appeared in the lobby of the hotel. I was getting more and more scared because I was alone with my boss. I didn’t know what to do so I asked the receptionist if he knew that man. She told me she had seen him a few days ago and he looked like he was mentally ill.

The next day I went downstairs and the man was still there, standing in the same spot. My boss told me I shouldn’t be afraid of him. I asked him why and he said that the man was just weird and harmless. We went back to our appointment and the two men in the lobby were gone. When we got back to the hotel I noticed that my boss had left his bag on the floor. I picked it up and went upstairs. I had just put it on the bed when I heard the door close behind me and the man was there.

He was really tall, he could have touched the ceiling with his head. I couldn’t move my body. I just stared at him. He was wearing a suit, had short, well cut hair, was white and had no facial hair. He smelled nice. He looked like a rich person. I couldn’t move my body but I was able to open my mouth a bit and I tried to scream. He noticed I was going to scream and he covered my mouth with his hand.

I couldn’t move. He grabbed me and he was about to throw me on the bed when I managed to move my body a bit and I kicked him in the face. He fell to the ground and he went out. I opened the window and jumped out of it. I ran downstairs and out of the hotel. When I was on the street I stopped running and looked around. I didn’t know where I was or what I was doing. I was very scared and didn’t know what to do. I had no money and I didn’t know how to get home.

I went to a nearby pharmacy and the owner of the store let me use his phone to call my boss. He answered and I told him what had happened. He was very mad at me for lying and said I was going to regret it because I had embarrassed him and I was a liar. He said he wasn’t going to pay for my ticket home because I had lied. I said I was sorry but I didn’t know what else to do. I hung up and asked the owner of the pharmacy to take me home. He took me to his house, made me eat something and called my mom to say I was okay.

The next day the police came to my mom’s house to ask for more information about the incident. They told us they were going to look for my boss but he was nowhere to be found. We didn’t hear anything from him or the police after that.

The man who attacked me in the hotel was never found.
