The mods have started kicking out all the people who made owo what it is. Why?

Owo is dying and nobody cares. It’s one of the most popular subreddits on the site, but the people who run it are actively sabotaging it. It’s not just the constant rule changes, but the people they pick to enforce those rules.

As of yesterday, mod and user favorite CucumberSnapper has been banned and removed as a moderator, and it’s not the first time they’ve done this to a moderator. The first time I remember this happening was with /u/SpaceCowboy2761, who they kicked out for no reason at all other than they weren’t an active moderator at the time.

They were removed from the mod team without so much as a warning, and it’s not the first time they’ve done this. They did this to a ton of mods last year, including SpaceCowboy and CucumberSnapper, but they seemed to have made up with SpaceCowboy because he’s still a moderator as of this post and is still active in the sub. They did not, however, invite Cucumber back to the moderator team and instead, banned them. The ban was totally unwarranted as well, because CucumberSnapper did nothing wrong.

They posted something that was clearly marked as AI, but that was against the rules because it was swiping the style of another artist. It was *clearly* AI and had the proper tag, and yet, mod and user favorite u/ImNotThatLangdon, wanted them gone.

Langdon has been trying to kick her out for months, and the moment he had the chance, he took it. This has now sparked a internal war within the owo moderation team, with mods openly arguing over whether or not they should have banned CucumberSnapper.

For a sub that's supposed to be based on "being nice", the mods sure as hell don't follow that code. They’re not nice to each other, and they’re not nice to the users. As a lot of people have pointed out, the most active owo mods don’t even post on the sub anymore. They ban people, and spend the majority of their time arguing behind closed doors.

This sub is about to die. In the last year, it’s gone from having over 10 million subscribers to only 9.4. It’s losing popularity on the site as well, and the front page is filled with nothing but reposts.

We need to hold these moderators accountable. If they want to run a sub, they need to be fair. They need to be transparent. They need to communicate with each other and the people who use the sub. And they need to stop these unwarranted bans.
