I'm a shadow agent for the US federal government, I have personally removed and/or neutralized hundreds of threats to national security.

I know it sounds like a bunch of buzwords strung together but it's 100% true. I'm not a field agent, I don't go out carrying a gun or gadgets, I don't have 57 different ways to kill you with a paper clip. I spend most of my time looking over spreadsheets and crunching numbers to identify patterns. The agency I work for has access to the majority of the worlds financial transactions. You wouldn't believe the number of people who try to buy guns, ammo, explosives, etc with traceable methods of payment.

Once we've identified the person or group buying this stuff we coordinate with local law enforcement to apprehend, and in places where we can't have local law enforcement handle it we send troops. I've been doing this for a few years now and while the job is boring 70% of the time I get to see the direct impact of my work when it gets to the real world. I've seen what people who decide to go RAMAD into a crowded location can do, and I can't help but think if only we'd caught that one sooner.

I've helped stop hundreds of threats, I've watched our work save thousands of lives. Details that I wish I could share with you but I can't. I'm not allowed to talk about this, if my superiors found out that I was talking about this they would punish me severely. But I need to get this off of my chest, I need to tell someone, and the subreddit seems as good of a place as any. I'm not in this for the perks or the power, I'm in this to make the world a safer place. And if I never get to share what I do with anyone else in my life, then so be it.

What I do is worth it.

EDIT: The agency isn't the FBI, CIA or NSA. (Can't remember if it's mentioned in the main post).

No, I cannot tell anyone the name of the agency I work for.

I did this before the pandemic hit, I'm still doing it now. I think my job may have just gotten a bit harder.

As much as I would love to if I cannot tell anyone about my job before things have been declassified which may well be never.

It's a bit comical seeing some of the conspiracy theories here.
