For those who don't know, the remote worker movement is a trend in which a growing number of individuals are leaving their careers to live nomadically in foreign countries, usually southern Asia and Latin America.

As you might expect, the concept of 'digital nomadism' is becoming more popular as a result of improvements in communication technology and increases in digital connectivity.

It has been argued that this movement may be a form of neocolonialism, as these high-income foreigners inevitably cause rapid increases in rent, gentrification, and higher wages, which can create social unrest amongst the local population.

Data from the US has suggested that it may be too early to make big claims about the rise of the digital nomad, but that they may still play a significant role in shaping the geography of work across certain regions.

I am curious to hear opinions from the high-quality individuals on this sub as to their thoughts on this issue.
