Why are the North Koreans so loyal to their government?

North Koreans are brainwashed to believe that their leader is great and that their government is the best. It is also very difficult for them to travel to other countries. Their economy has recently been improving but they are still very poor by global standards and do not have very many political freedoms.

There was a plot to overthrow the gov in the 1990s and that largely failed. Why doesn’t the country erupt into an uprising? What stops the citizens from joining together to kill the government and overthrow them? I don’t get it. Even if the government has access to weapons, the citizens must outnumber the government. I don’t understand how such a government can exist.
