What do you think causes people to look down on guns and the gun culture?

I'm a kid with no gun culture whatsoever, and I've always felt negatively about guns and not understood why people would want them. Things like the recent shooting have made me take a second look, and I think I might want one now.<br><br>But I wonder what causes people to look down on it. Things like recreational shooting, competition shooting, hunting, self defense, collecting, things like that.
