**My View:** The Moment That “Anti-Vaxxers” Became Mainstream<br><br>**Contrary View:** I’d never heard of this movement.<br><br>**Why I think it:** When the Pandemic started, “Anti-Vaxxers” were seen as just a fringe group. However, with the haphazard vilification by media and the government, coupled with the ideologies of Trump supporters, the Anti-Vax belief began to spread into people that didn’t know for sure where they stood on the belief.<br><br>**Why I believe that:** I don’t know if this is just a point of view for me, but it seemed like the moment that the media and government began to shame people for not getting the vaccine was when more and more people began to question its safety (but you don’t hear about the people that get the vaccine without issue, right?). Some people questioned the speed of the vaccine. Some people didn’t believe that the vaccine was safe. Some people didn’t want to take something that (at the time) wasn’t approved and was still in the experimental phase. Some people were just (but you get the idea). And then on the other side, you’ll be shamed for not wanting the vaccine. You’ll be shamed for the decision to not get the vaccine. You’ll be shamed for not wanting to put foreign substances in your body.<br><br>To be clear, your decisions are up to you and there are millions of reasons why people shouldn’t take the vaccine. On the other hand, there are millions of reasons why you should take the vaccine! Because the choice was put in people’s hands, vilification occurred from all sides and now we have thousands of people that refuse to take the vaccine, and for good reason. On the other hand, there are thousands of people that do take the vaccine and for good reason! The anti-vax movement used to be a fringe belief, but now it’s not and it's mainly because of the backlash against those that choose to take the vaccine.<br><br>**Why I want you to change my view:** I’m not anti-vax, but I want to know why this movement became mainstream. I’m not anti-vax. I’m not pro-vax. I’m just someone that is trying to understand the perspective of people who are anti-vax in this new world, and why this movement became mainstream.
