The creep who was watching my kid from the window

This happened a couple of years ago in late October 2013. I was in my backyard when I noticed a car pulled up across the street. I looked up and saw a guy with a hoodie on watching me. It was dark so he was hard to see, but I could tell he was staring at me. I quickly went back inside and told my son, 10m at the time, to go to his room and stay there until I came back. I walked across the street and out to the car. There was a guy sitting in the drivers seat and another one sitting in the passenger seat. They were both wearing hoodies.

I walked up to the passenger side of the car and said "What?" I don't usually interact with people I don't know, but something about this situation made me feel uncomfortable and I needed to know who they were. The guy in the drivers seat got out of the car. I will call him Driver. He was tall and skinny. He had a thick Spanish accent and was very friendly. He explained to me that he was trying to find his friends house. I asked him what their names were and he told me his friends names. They were names I had never heard of.

I asked him what his name was and he told me his name. I don't remember it, but it was a common Spanish name. He told me he was lost and needed directions. I told him I didn't know the neighborhood very well, so I couldn't help him. He then said that he saw a car parked down at the end of the street and he thought maybe he should walk down there and ask the people for directions. I told him okay and walked down to my car. When we got down to my car, there was no car parked at the end of the street. I knew he was lying to me.

I was scared. There were two men in a car watching me from across the street. So, I did what any normal person would do in that situation and I called the cops. I didn't want to wait around to find out if they were going to come after me or my son. While I was on the phone with the cops, Driver started talking to me about the weather. I remember him saying something along the lines of "the weather has been really nice lately, hasn't it?" I replied "yes, it has." I tried to be polite, even though I was scared out of my mind.

The cops arrived and as soon as they did Driver and the other guy got in their car and drove away. The cops asked if I could identify them in a lineup, but unfortunately, they got away before that happened. They did, however, find a car abandoned down the street from where I live. The car belonged to a 17 year old guy who had run away from home. His parents were frantic looking for him. The police searched for him, but he was never found.

Let's not meet again creepy guy with the hoodie.
