The most terrifying encounter I had in my life

This is a story that I have been thinking about for years. It’s something that I think about very often, and, even though it happened many years ago, it still gets to me, and I’d like to share it.
I was 18-19 years old when this happened. At the time, I was living with my family in a very nice split level house that was surrounded by trees. It was a very secluded neighborhood that was built upon a forest, and the houses were built with this weird, overgrown concrete walls that had trees growing out of them. We lived in a two story house, and I had a big window in the corner of my bedroom that faced the street, and the neighbors house, which was only a few feet away.
I was sleeping very soundly one night when I was woken up to the rattling of my window. I looked at the clock, and it was around 3 a.m. It freaked me out a little bit, but, when I looked at the window, I saw that it was rattling very loosely, and I remember thinking that maybe it was just the wind.
I never consciously remember falling back asleep, but I do remember that I was woken up again. I don’t know how much time had passed, but it was a very short period of time.
I looked at my window, and it was wide open. It was open like somebody had literally yanked it open. A few moments passed, and I heard the sound of footsteps running down the concrete walls that surrounded the neighborhood. I heard the footsteps very clearly, and I could hear the sound of a man yelling very loudly, “I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!” It was the loudest, most intense sound I have ever ever heard. It shook me, and I would never forget it.
Scared to death, I ran to my parents bedroom, and I told them what I just heard. Of course, they didn’t believe me at first, but I was persistent. I told them that I really, really, heard somebody yelling at the top of their lungs, and, that whoever it was, was threatening to kill somebody.
My dad went out into the neighborhood, and checked the streets. The streets were empty, and very dark, but he didn't see or hear anything.
I was never able to shake the feeling that I got when I heard that voice. I heard that voice for years afterwards, and I would never forget how chilling it was.
