Do you ever get sick of hearing about how “good” and “selfless” women are supposed to be?

Because I do. I feel sick anytime I see something that praises women for thinking everyone else before themselves. “Women are so selfless and loving, how lucky are we to have them in our lives!” “Women are so strong and put up with so much: they always think of others before themselves.”<br><br>What the fuck? Women are expected to be so incredibly selfless and thoughtful all the time, and I think that’s a big reason why we end up with so many female people-pleasers. Everyone always puts so much emphasis on how much women are always willing to help others and work hard and deal with sexism without complaining, and it gets to the point where women feel like if we’re not doing the household chores and helping our friends and working our butts off, we’re somehow failing.<br><br>We shouldn’t be expected to be super perfect people with no needs or desires of our own. I’m fucking sick of it.
