A woman walked into my house when I was 16

This is from 8 years ago now. I'm 24.

So it was about 6pm in the winter when I was 16. I was at home, staying by myself as my parents had left for work/collarboration. (I had 2 older siblings but they were at college at the time) I was watching a movie in my bedroom when I hear a noise in the living room. Like a creak, and it sounded like the front door was open. I thought it was weird because I knew it was closed and latched (We lived in a 4 bedroom ranch with the front door at about waist level, and the living room was a big room with two doors, one to the kitchen and one to the back patio. Also, the door is pretty heavy so it takes a lot to get it to open).

I wasn't really worried, because I had lived in this house my whole life, so I knew my parents would never walk in without calling or texting me to make sure I was okay with them coming home early. Plus, it was their first night of "collaboration" so I assumed it would be a late night.

I waited for a few minutes for one of my parents to walk in, but nobody did. I waited a few more minutes and then decided to check to see if they were home, I go into the living room and the door was open, but I didn't see anybody in there. I go into the kitchen, and there is nobody there. I go into my parents room, still nobody.

So I go back to the living room and I see a shadowy figure walking from the living room through the back door. I don't know what to do, I was terrified. I went to the kitchen and grabbed a kitchen knife and stood in the corner of the living room next to the stairs. I was watching the back door waiting for the person to come back in, and suddenly I heard a noise on the stairs, I turned to look and there was a woman standing on the stairs looking at me. I was about 20 steps from her, and I could see her clearly.

She looked like a drug addict, she was dirty, had long dirty blonde hair, a dirty pink shirt and pants. I held the knife in my hand and yelled "What are you doing in my house?" And she just stared at me and said nothing. I was shaking, I held the knife in front of me and tried to not cry. She slowly backed down the stairs and opened the front door and walked out, without saying another word.

I ran to my bedroom and locked myself in, called my mom. She came home and we called the cops.

Nobody ever came to my house again, and I'm now 24 and still living in that house. We have always been thankful that nothing else happened and that she left.

So, to the woman in the pink shirt and dirty hair, let's not meet again.
