I'm currently reading a book about the Mexican American War and it's given me an interesting perspective on the US government and the people in it.

Up to this point I was a relatively happy American, I'm not sure how I felt about the government. But it's given me an empty feeling inside, about the leaders of our country, and the fact that slavery could have been abolished about 30 years earlier then it was, if it wasn't for Henry Clay.

It just makes me wonder, anything about this whole thing good come out of this?
