Just as the title states. I'll be maintaining a diary here so I can find it in 3 months when I start to forget how things were. I also want to see what /4chan/ has to say about it all. I'll try to answer any questions as well. Its 8:30am here and I'm currently waiting for my drug test to be processed. On my morning commute here I saw a homeless man with a gallon of milk and a carton of eggs. My mom always told me to always carry food with you in case of emergencies, I never understood what she meant by it, but this homeless man really drove that point home for me.

I'm a physics PHD candidate, I'm in my 4th year and currently taking classes and don't have to TA. I feel like my research has been dragging on at a slow pace so I'm choosing to do HFT for 3 months to better focus on my research afterwards. I have about 12k saved that I've accumulated over 6 years of university and I would like to not have to touch it. I don't really know what to expect. I got my drug test and I'm currently waiting for the results. I'm supposed to start tomorrow at 8am, but I don't know what to do for the rest of the day.

I asked HR when I got my drug test if there was anything else I needed to do beforehand, but she said all I needed to do is show up tomorrow. I feel very unimpacted by this whole process so far. I really have no idea what to expect. What do you think it will be like? What would you think if you were in my shoes? What things should I do before tomorrow that I won't be able to do afterwards?

Edit: I'm back home now. I'm going to go for a hike later. I had to do a physical as well, they don't want to risk me injuring myself at work. I'm not really sure what that entails, I'm not really sure what kind of physical shape I'm in. I currently weigh 225lbs and I'm 6'1, I was way heavier before but I'm currently losing 3lbs a week. I also run often and lift, but I always get dizzy when I do either. I have a really bad back as well. I can't afford health insurance either.

Edit2: I'm back from the hike, I only did 1.2 miles, I get winded and dizzy really easily. The trail was pretty vertical as well though. It was a great view though. I'm going to miss that view.
