What if Earth had TWO moons orbiting it?

So much of our own planet’s history is written in the presence of our moon. Our own species contemporary history is very heavily influenced by the presence of our moon.

I heard someone say in a video that the Earth’s tide patterns would be so bad that humans couldn’t possibly have migrated to the oceans successfully as they did. There’d be mass extinctions, and probably the collapse of oceanic food webs. Littoral zones would be so nutrient-poor that only the most hardy of microorganisms would be able to survive.

I reckon this is a good question for worldbuilders. What do you think the Earth would be like if we had TWO moons?

Would the oceans be able to support life as we know it?

Would humans have been able to colonise the oceans?

Would human settlement and development patterns have looked very different?

What would be the mass effects on the environment?

I’d like to hear your thoughts.

P.S. Apologies if this has been discussed before.
