CMV: Humanity will never explore or inhabit asteroids or other planets. All of the people who tell us they want to "live on Mars" are bullshitting.

Man has been to the moon and then stopped going completely. The stars have been in front of us for all of human history and still we have made no effort to even leave the solar system. Every year we put a small percentage of our tax money into the stars but we don't use it. It goes straight into the pockets of the people who work in space agencies and defence contractors. Let me be clear that I believe a small minority of scientists really do want to explore space - but there are reasons we'll never actually do it and the reasons are especially obvious for Mars.

Humanity already has a habitable planet and can already grow all the food we need. This planet is completely equipped with everything we need to sustain life. Most of our tax money is going to develop technology for growing closer to Earth in orbit. The space stations and satellites we put up are designed for the purpose of receiving communications and predicting the weather, and to enable world wars in outer space. When NASA and the Pentagon talk about exploring Mars or inhabiting asteroids they are bullshitting us. Humanity is not going to throw millions of dollars at a Mars mission to mine resources or find new sources of food when we can already do that on this planet.

The investment required to do what they say they want to do is so massive that we would need a great motive to do it. They know we don't need to get out into the solar system in order to provide food and resources and especially to grow the global economy. The investment is already being made to develop the technology and infrastructure required to mine asteroids and get over the hill of escaping Earth's gravitational pull and to get out into the universe. But we won't actually do it.

For example, they are developing spacecraft which use solar sails, propelled by the sun's energy. This is especially obvious evidence because the point of the solar sails is to take spacecraft out into deep space, beyond the orbit of Pluto. They say they're a test for a future mission to Mars. But a mission to Mars doesn't require solar sails because there is still a lot of sun energy near Mars. Solar sails are for deep space travel. They say they're doing it for the purpose of some kind of future interplanetary war, but this is also a lie. Humanity will never go to war with Martians. They're doing it for the purpose of scientific research. We want to know more about the universe. But we will never actually do it. They know they're bullshitting. Most scientists are just doing their jobs and can't act out against their employers anyway.

If you think I'm wrong and humanity actually will explore outer space, then you can change my view.

Edit: In the future I'm going to add a list of users who convinced me I'm wrong and change my mind.
