Today, the FDA approved The first over-the-counter version of the naloxone nasal spray: Narcan Anti-Overdose Spray. The product is expected to hit store shelves in the United States this summer.

Narcan Anti-Overdose Spray, a brand developed by Emergent Biosolutions, is the first naloxone nasal spray that will be available at pharmacies without a prescription. It is an overdose reversal medication that, when administered correctly, can restore a person's breathing that has stopped or slowed due to an opioid overdose.

According to the FDA, the price of the medication is expected to remain at just under $40 per dose. I can't explain how pissed off I am that I am going to have to spend $40 for medication that I may need to keep my child alive.

The price of naloxone has more than doubled since 2015, as manufacturers have taken advantage of skyrocketing demand as the U.S. tries to curb the tide of overdose deaths from opioids like fentanyl and heroin.

The price of Naloxone in Canada is a few dollars.

I don't give a shit if it is privately produced and privately distributed. This is too important a drug to charge usurious prices for.
