**TLDR at the bottom. (Addition: I added the redactions that I forgot to add in my original post.)**

So, this happened a few years back but I can never forget it. I was working at this small, quaint hotel. It was a nice place, not too big and not too crowded, just a place that was great to relax and forget about everything outside for a little while. The best part about this job was that I got to interact with so many different people, some that even became close friends. I worked in this same location for over 4 years and it was going great.

I worked as a bellhop in the back, I would help carry luggage up to the rooms and help guests with anything else they needed. I also worked in the restaurant on and off, mostly during the holidays when they needed an extra hand. Overall, it was a great job, and I loved it. This is a long story, I apologize, but it's something that I will never forget. This is the story of the woman who tried to kill me.

I was working a pretty normal shift, just the usual guests and the holiday rush was over so it wasn't too busy. I was just sitting down at the bellhop stand reading a book and just waiting for anyone to need help when there was a knock on the stand.

"Hey! We've got another guest checking in." Said one of the other bellhops, "I'll help you with the luggage. Looks like she's got a lot of bags."

"Alright, let's bring 'em up." Said the other bellhop, "I don't know her room number though."

"Oh, I can go check it out for ya." I said. "I'd be happy to help out."

"Alright, she's got a lot of luggage so let's move at once!" Said the bellhop.

So I hopped up and we both ran up the stairs, "I'll check the registry real quick to make sure everything's in order first." I said, "I'll grab the key and meet you guys at the second floor."

I ran into the office to grab the key, "Hey, Gerry's out of town and Mary's on a break, so it's just me working in here for now." Said the front desk lady. "I'll grab the key for you."

"Alright, thanks, appreciate it." I said.

I grabbed the key and ran out of the office, "Alright guys! Let's go!" I said, looking at the key to see which room it was.

"It's room 314." I said, "Let's go!"

We all ran up to room 314, "Alright here we are!" I said, "I'll knock!"

I knocked and a woman answered, "Hello!" I said. "Ya'll all set! Just need you to sign this real quick." I said, waving the registry in the woman's face.

"Ah, of course." Said the lady, signing quickly and taking the key from me. "Thank you very much, you're so kind!"

"It's no problem ma'am, you have a great day!" I said. "I'll help you out with your bags now!"

The woman turned around and walked into her room, "I can take it from here!" Said the lady.

"Okay then." I said, "You need anything just give a knock!"

"Of course." Said the lady, "You're too kind!"

I turned around to walk away when the other two bellhops started backing away slowly.

"What's wrong guys?" I asked, looking at their worried faces.

"The lady just shut her door and started humming..." Said one of the bellhops.

"Something's not right, something's off..." Said the other bellhop.

"I know." I said. "Let's get outta here."

I quickly walked all three of us down the stairs, "That woman wasn't right." I said.

"Ya think?" Said one of the bellhops.

After that, every time I went by that room, I could hear her humming. It was almost like she knew I was out there watching her. Every time I passed, it gave me the chills.

That night, around 11 I was working out front, just sitting at the desk. I was reading a book again and just waiting for any guests to come in or out. It was pretty quiet that night. I remember that because I was getting sleepy and it was hard to focus on my book. Just as I was getting lost in my thoughts, a woman walked in through the front door, "Hello!" Said the front desk lady. "How's your stay so far?"

"It's going wonderful, thank you!" Said the woman. "I was just wondering if you had any late night snacks available?"

"Of course ma'am, we do." Said the front desk lady. "We have a small convenience store connected to the hotel that stays open until midnight if you'd like to go in there?"

"That would be great, thank you!" Said the lady. "I'm starving and I don't feel like going out right now."

"Alright, it's right next to you, just go on out that door over there and it'll be on your right." Said the front desk lady, pointing to the door.

The lady walked through the door and into the convenience store. The front desk lady turned to me and smiled, "I guess it's just us two here now!" She said.

"It is." I replied. "You can close up if you'd like."

"I'm gonna just wait until Gerry gets back." She said. "Ya never know when some guests might come in."

"Alright, I can wait." I said.

I sat back down at the desk and started reading my book again, "Thanks." Said the front desk lady.

"It's no problem." I said.

About 5 minutes pass when I hear the front door open again, "Hello again! How's everything?" Said the front desk lady.

"I'm doing great, thank you!" Said the woman. "I was wondering if you guys have any rooms that overlook the pool?"

"Let me check." Said the front desk lady. "I'll go grab the registry real quick."

She got up and walked into the office and I sat there in a mix of shock and confusion.

"What the...?!" I said to myself. "How did she get back in? I could've sworn I locked that front door when I was working out here."

The front desk lady came back out and started looking through the registry. "Yes! We do! We have two rooms that overlook the pool. One is room 214 and the other one's in... (pauses) well, hell... it's room 314."

I sat there in shock, thinking to myself, **"Wait a minute... That's the room that woman was in earlier! I remember!"**

The front desk lady turned to me and smiled, "I know the one you mean! We haven't had anyone staying in that room since she checked in earlier. You kinda got stuck with her when you were bringing in her luggage."

"Oh, yeah." I said, trying not to reveal my true intentions of not wanting to be around that woman.

"Well, if you remember where you put it, could you grab me the key to room 314?" Asked the front desk lady.

"Uh, yeah. I remember putting it in my pocket when I was bringing in her luggage." I said. "Here it is."

I reached into my pocket and grabbed the key, handing it to the front desk lady. As soon as I did, I noticed the woman from room 314 walked out of the convenience store and into the lobby.

"Here ya go." I said. "Thanks!"

The front desk lady took the key from me and walked into the office again, "You're welcome!"

I sat there in shock, staring at the front door as the woman from 314 walked towards me.

"Hello again!" Said the front desk lady, coming back out. "You were saying?"

"I was just wondering if you had any rooms that overlooked the pool?" Said the lady.

"Of course! We have two rooms that overlook the pool." Said the front desk lady. "One is room 214 and the other one's in... (pauses) well, hell... it's room 314."

"I'd love to stay in one of those rooms! Which one would you recommend?" Asked the lady.

"Room 314 is highly recommended." Said the front desk lady. "The view of the pool from that room is just wonderful!"

"Alright then! I'll take it!" Said the lady. "Thank you so much!"

"You're welcome!" Said the front desk lady, taking the key from me again.

As soon as the front desk lady took the key, she turned around and walked back into the office. I noticed that the woman from 314 was standing just a few feet away from me.

"What are you doing out of your room this late?" I asked, trying to act brave.

"I could ask you the same thing..." Said the lady.

I stood there in silence, staring at her. I felt a chill go down my back as she smiled at me.

"Ya never know when trouble might strike!" Said the lady.

"I guess not." I replied.

"I'm gonna get some rest. You do the same." Said the lady.

"Alright then. You too!" I said.

The lady turned around and walked back towards the office, "Night!" Said the lady as she walked in.

"Night!" I replied.

The front desk lady turned to me and smiled, "I guess she's back in
