I (27f) have been with my current boyfriend for about 18 months and we've been living together for 12 of those months. About 2 months into living together, he asked me if I had ever slept in his bed yet. I told him that I had crashed on the couch a couple times, but I hadn't slept in the bed yet. He said, "Well, why don't you go change into something comfy and I'll turn the lights off when I get back from taking a shower. Then you can try it out."

I spent about 45 minutes trying on different pajamas and deciding whether I wanted to read a book or watch TV before I went to bed. Finally, I decided to just go to bed, so I picked out a pair of pajamas and a t-shirt to sleep in and went into the bedroom. I crawled into bed and snuggled under the blankets and set my phone on silent. Then I waited for my boyfriend to turn off the lights.

I got up out of bed to go into the bathroom to brush my teeth, but when I got to the bathroom I realized that the light was out. I went back into the bedroom and called out to my boyfriend. "Is the light off?" He replied from the bathroom, "Yeah. I'm gonna shower." So, I crawled back into bed and got all comfortable and cozy and was just waiting for him to come back and snuggle with me.

About 10 minutes later, I heard the shower turn off and the water run through the drain. My boyfriend came out of the bathroom and said, "You good? Lights off?" I said, "Yeah, I'm good." And he said, "Alright. I'm gonna go take a quick nap on the couch. I'll come in and cuddle you in a bit." I replied, "Alright. I love you." And he said, "I love you. See you in a bit."

I crawled back under the covers and snuggled up to the side of the bed. I heard his footsteps walk to the living room and I heard him collapse onto the couch. I waited for about 30 seconds or so before I heard the couch creak and move. It sounded like someone was laying down, but the sheets or blankets were falling off the back of the couch.

I waited another 30 seconds or so, and I heard the sound of sheets falling to the ground. It sounded like my boyfriend was laying in the couch, but his blankets were on the floor. I waited another minute or so, but I didn't hear him move anymore. So I decided to call out to him. "Hey. Are you okay? Did the couch break or something?"

I heard the couch creak as he sat back up and his feet hit the ground. He said, "Nope, nope. Everything's fine. Sorry about that. I'm just tired. See you in a minute!" He walked towards the bedroom and I heard his footsteps stop just outside the door. I called out to him again, "Hey. You still out in the hallway?"

He said, "Yeah. I'm gonna kiss you goodnight real quick. I'm just real shy right now. I don't want you to see my face." I asked him, "Why are you being shy? Did you eat dog food for dinner again?"

He replied, "Shut up. Of course not! I just don't want you to see my face right now. I'm gonna kiss you real quick, but please, please don't open your eyes."

I said, "Alright, but you're being kind of weird right now. You okay, babe?" He said, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just give me a second." And then nothing.

So I sat there in the dark. Waiting. And I could hear his breathing. He was right outside of the door. But he wasn't coming in to kiss me goodnight. I finally decided, fuck it. I'm gonna open my eyes and see if he comes in and kisses me. So I opened my eyes. I reached my arm over to the bedside table and flipped the light switch. Nothing happened.

I realized that he had turned the light off when he came into my room. So I reached over to the nightstand on the other side of the bed and flipped that light on. Again, nothing happened. So I got out of bed, went to the nightstand, and checked to make sure that there was actually light in the bulb. And yes, there was light. The fixture was working. But my boyfriend had turned off the light.

I went to the doorway of the bedroom and flipped the light switch, but nothing happened. The light was off at the breaker box. So I went to the breaker box and flipped the light all the way to the other side of the house, which includes the bedroom. I went back into the bedroom and flipped the light back on.

I got back into bed and looked at the place where my boyfriend had been standing just a moment before. He had definitely been there. I could see his footprint in the dust. And I could see a place where his hand had rubbed against the wall. So, if he hadn't left the room, then where was he?

I sat there in bed, shaking and freaking out, looking at the place where my boyfriend had been standing just a moment before. And I called out to him. "Hey! Where are you? Are you okay?" There was no response. So I got out of bed again and walked towards the doorway. And I flipped the light switch again. Nothing happened.

I went to the breaker box again and flipped the light all the way to the other side of the house, which includes the bedroom. When I got to the doorway, I realized that he wasn't in the hallway. I started walking the hallway and checking all of the rooms. But he wasn't in any of them. So I checked the living room and he wasn't there either.

I checked the kitchen and he wasn't there. Then I checked the bathroom again. But he wasn't in the bathroom either. I looked in the shower and I looked in the bathtub. But he wasn't in the bathroom. At that point, I was freaking the fuck out. I had no idea where my boyfriend had gone.

I started walking back to the bedroom, but when I got to the doorway, I saw that the blankets on my side of the bed had been lifted up. I saw that my side of the bed had been slept in, because there was a dent in the blankets. Someone else had been in my bed. So I flipped on the light and I saw that my ex-boyfriend, and current ex-husband, was in my bed.

I asked him, "What the fuck are you doing in my bed? Why is the light off? Why did you have me think you left the house?"

He replied, "I didn't want to scare you. Remember when you told me that your ex-husband used to scare the shit out of you every night?" I said, "Yes. How did you know that?" And he replied, "Well, I heard you tell your therapist about it a couple weeks ago during one of your sessions. And I have to admit, it was pretty funny. And I wanted to scare you again."

I said, "Well, you're fucking failing. I'm not scared of you at all. I'm scared of the fact that you're in my bed." And he replied
