I've been locked in my office for the past 6 hours, which is not abnormal. I work as a staff writer for a large publishing house. I had a deadline to meet and was trying to finish a big project I'm working on.

My desk is right next to a window, which looks over the courtyard of the building. It's an old building, so the windows don't open, but they do slide up about 6 inches or so. It's pretty hot today, so I've got a wet towel placed in front of the window to keep the sun from beating down on my desk.

I'd been completely focused on my work for a while, until I heard a tapping coming from the window. At first I thought it was my imagination, but the tapping got louder, and I could tell it wasn't my imagination. I turned around to look at the window, expecting maybe a bird had flown up against the glass or the wind had blown something against the screen. What I saw was not what I expected.

There was a man, dressed in a black shirt and dark jeans. He was hanging from the windowsill with his feet flat on the ground. He was tall, maybe 6 feet or so. He had short black hair, pushed back on his head. He had green eyes, and a small smile on his face. He started tapping his fingers on the windowsill, looking up at me and smiling.

I tried to play it cool, and ignored him, hoping he would go away. I started reading an email that had come in a few minutes before. The tapping got louder and faster, almost like drumming. I started to feel uncomfortable, and realized that I wasn't going to get rid of him that easily.

I tried to focus on my work again, but he started to talk. At first, I couldn't make out what he was saying, he was just making noises. Then I could make out words. He was saying my name, which I'll call "Sarah". He said "Sarah, let's talk". I still wasn't looking at him, and I was hoping that if I ignored him, he would go away. He started to rhyme. He said "Sarah, don't be stubborn, open your window and talk to some one."

I started to feel really creeped out at this point. I was alone in my office, 5 floors up, and this guy was outside my window talking to me. I started to make mental escape plans. My door was stuck, I knew that I couldn't get out that way. The bathroom was at the other end of the office, about 40 feet away. I figured I could make it there and lock the door, calling security from in there. As I started planning my escape, the guy stopped talking and just started making loud kissing noises. I started to freak out, and that's when he started to climb.

He started his climb, slowly at first. One hand on the window sill, his other hand on the wall. Slowly but surely, he started to make his way up. I started to silently cry, trying not to make anymore movements that would alert him that I had seen him climb up. I started to slowly stand up, trying to make a run for the bathroom. But before I could make a move, he reached the top and slammed the window shut, shutting the glass shut right in front of me.

I heard his footsteps as he walked away. I was just standing there, frozen in fear. I finally came to my senses and ran to the door and tried to open it. But it was stuck. I started to silently cry again, trying to calm myself down. I tried the door again, but it still wouldn't open. I gave up and crawled under my desk and sat there, shaking.

After what seemed like a lifetime, I heard heavy footsteps coming down the hallway. I thought maybe it was security, here to save me. But when they turned the corner, and shone their flashlight on me, I saw two officers. And they said "We've had several reports of a man climbing the outside of the building." I pointed up to the window and said "He was just above my head, he climbed down and slammed the window shut and walked away."

They looked at each other, confused, and one said "Ma'am, you've been in here for the past 6 hours. There's no one outside your window right now." I started to get confused. Had it all been in my head? Was I going crazy? I started to feel embarrassed, and ashamed that I was screaming about someone climbing up my window when there was no one there. The officers left, and I tried to calm myself down. I got myself together, and went back to work, hoping no one would notice my outburst.

I'm just really confused right now. The weird thing is, there is no other route to the windows of my office, except from the outside. I don't understand what just happened. I'm trying to come up with logical explanations, but none are working. If you are the guy who was just trying to talk to me, let me know why.
